| Fransisco Bay Airport, Davao City |
The Airport of Davao City (DVO) is a very nice, modern airport, with few travellers compared to Manila for example.
And if you destination is Mindanao island, and even other locations in the Philippines, why not enjoy going directly to the safe, friendly city of Davao? From Davao there are a lot of domestic flights, so it might be a good idea to touch down here, and avoid Manila with all the hustle and bustle that you can experience there, going from one airport to another.
I travelled from DVO directly to Singapore last year with Cebu Pacific, and the whole journey was fantastic. Great service, no hassle in the airport or check in. However, there was not much of choices when it comes to foods served there, so I ended up with hot noodle soupe from a small kiosk.
Since I was flexible concerning dates, I found a very cheap ticket booked one month in advance.
Be aware that some people have bad experiences with those cheaper airlines, like Cebu Pacific, so if you can afford it, better pay more and get better services of course. But I write this article for people who are on a small budget, and love to travel.
Before comitting to buying a ticket, always compare with other options, as they usually have different baggage allowances, charges for meals and services, different seating sizes etc.

THE BIG NEWS in Davao travelling is:
From February 2018, there is a new direct route between Kuala Lumpur and Davao, serviced by Air Asia. It will operate 4 times weekly.

The prices as of now seem to be very competitive indeed, as usually is the case with Air Asia.
So, wether you are already in Mindanao, not too far from Davao, and wish to travel abroad, or you wish to visit Mindanao without the hassle of travelling via other cities like Manila or Cebu, you do now have a very good option: AIR ASIA.
